New Delhi: Top commanders of the Indian Navy have decided to substantially increase its combat capability in the Indo-Pacific region. The Indian Navy took this decision in the backdrop of China's increasing interference in the Indo-Pacific region and the geopolitical power display seen in the region.

The decision to enhance the country's combat capability in the maritime domain was taken after extensive deliberations at the four-day Naval Commanders' Conference that concluded here on Friday, officials said.

Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi said this

Addressing the Commanders, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi underlined the need to maintain vigilance towards ensuring maritime security and defence of the coast through close synergy and functional relationship with the Coast Guard and other maritime agencies.

According to the Navy, the Admiral called upon the command and staff at the Naval Headquarters to continue to evolve as a balanced multi-faceted and seamless network-based force that is prepared to respond, including protecting and promoting national maritime interests. The Navy Chief highlighted the contemporary geo-strategic scenario as well as the emerging strategy in the maritime domain.

Outlining the key areas of short, medium and long term focus for the force, he reiterated the need to ensure combat readiness of all naval platforms, equipment, weapons and sensors with the sole objective of "delivery of warhead to target", the Navy statement said.

Rajnath Singh said- always be ready

The commanders also expressed unwavering commitment to the national vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. 64 ships and submarines are currently under construction in Indian ports and 24 additional platforms have been ordered for construction.

In his address, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh appealed to the commanders to always be prepared to deal with any security challenge in view of the rapidly changing global scenario. He also underlined the need to increase India's overall naval power. The commanders discussed the overall situation related to the Red Sea and surrounding areas.
