Chennai: The Madras High Court on Thursday directed the Tamil Nadu government to pay Rs 5 lakh compensation each to two girls who were sexually exploited in a fake NCC camp.

The court also directed the government to pay a compensation of Rs 1 lakh each to the 21 other girls who were abused. A bench of Acting Chief Justice D Krishnakumar and Justice PB Balaji passed this order while passing an interim order on a PIL filed by advocate AP Suryaprakasam.

Demand to transfer the case to CBI

The petition seeks to transfer the investigation of the incident from Krishnagiri police to the CBI. During the hearing, Suryaprakasam said that the victims were given only interim compensation. They will have to suffer throughout their lives. He said that therefore they should be given additional compensation.
