Manipur: Manipur violence has now taken a more terrible form, people's protests are continuing at various places. Meanwhile, the Center has directed the deployment of two new CRPF battalions with about 2,000 personnel for security duties in ethnic conflict-torn Manipur. Battalion number 58 is being sent from Warangal in Telangana while battalion number 112 is being sent from Latehar in Jharkhand.
Sources say the first unit will be headquartered at Kangwai (Churachandpur) in Manipur, while the second will be deployed around Imphal. They said the move has been ordered following the withdrawal of two battalions of Assam Rifles from Manipur for operational duties in Jammu and Kashmir and some other parts of the Northeast.
Tech gadgets to be sent to Manipur soon
Let us tell you that a battalion of CRPF has an operational strength of about 1,000 personnel. According to sources, two drone guns, which jam the drone or unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), causing it to crash or retreat, have been provided to CRPF personnel in Manipur. He said that some more of these technological gadgets will be sent to Manipur soon.
Sources further said, the two units that are moving in have personnel who have received training in various internal security duties. They will require some logistics, accommodation, equipment and anti-drone technology and this is being planned, the official said.
A team of experts will reach Manipur to study drones
Meanwhile, a joint team of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Border Security Force (BSF) officials and some independent technical experts will reach Manipur this weekend to conduct an “analytical study” of the drones.
