Shillong (Meghalaya): Border Security Force (BSF) with the help of Meghalaya Police carried out a well-planned operation on August 10 and arrested seven Bangladeshi nationals along with two Indian accomplices from a police checkpost.
Giving information in a statement on Sunday, BSF said that in view of the ongoing violence and unrest in Bangladesh, BSF Meghalaya has increased security on the India-Bangladesh border.
BSF handed over the migrants to the police
The BSF said that all the illegal Bangladeshi migrants caught along with their Indian facilitators have been handed over to the state police for further investigation and legal action. Earlier, the BSF had caught two smugglers in a recent operation on the international border. The BSF had seized cattle and bottles of Phenidyl from the smugglers.
11 Bangladeshis caught while trying to enter India
Along with this, BSF has also caught 11 Bangladeshi citizens trying to enter India. These include two each from Bengal and Tripura border and seven from Meghalaya-Bangladesh border.
