Guwahati: Aadhar card will not be made in Assam without NRC. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Saturday that all new applicants for Aadhar card in Assam will have to submit their NRC Application Receipt Number (ARN). A detailed SOP will be prepared and it will be implemented from October 1.

He said submitting the National Register of Citizens (NRC) application receipt number will stop illegal foreigners. The Chief Minister said, "Applications for Aadhaar cards are more than the population. We have decided that new applicants will have to submit their NRC application receipt number."

This will not apply to these

He said, 'It will not be easy to get Aadhaar in Assam and it is expected that other states will also be strict in issuing Aadhaar cards.' Sarma said that submitting ARN will not apply to those 9.55 lakh people whose biometric identities were locked during the NRC process. They will get their cards.

The Chief Minister said that four districts have reported more applications for Aadhar cards than their total estimated population. These districts are Barpeta, Dhubri, Morigaon and Nagaon. At the same time, Sarma said on Saturday that if needed, the state government will recommend a CBI inquiry into the illegal online trading scam that has surfaced.

'Insurgency-related incidents reduced'

So far 59 arrests have been made in this regard. He also said that incidents related to insurgency have reduced in the state. He also stressed on the need to make police stations in Assam more people-centric.
