Agartala: Around 400 militants belonging to the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and the All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) will surrender their weapons in front of Chief Minister Manik Saha in Tripura's Sipahijala district on Tuesday.
All the militants will surrender on September 4 after signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the Centre and state governments in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi.
Around 400 militants of the NLFT and ATTF will surrender their arms before the CM at the headquarters of the 7th Battalion of the Tripura State Rifles (TSR) at Jampuijala, a Home Department official said.
A senior police officer said all the leaders of both the outlawed groups will surrender their arms to pave the way for lasting peace. The Centre has announced a financial package of Rs 250 crore for the rehabilitation of militants of both the groups.
