News Topical, Digital Desk : Two of the three accused who helped Sonam Raghuvanshi kill her husband Raja Raghuvanshi in Meghalaya have turned hostile and refused to testify before a magistrate. Shillong SP Herbert Piniyad Kharkongor said Akash Rajput and Anand Kurmi remained mum and refused to make any statement when they were produced before a magistrate on Thursday. Earlier, the Meghalaya police had claimed that all the accused had confessed to the crime.

Police said- we have enough evidence

Shillong SP said that we sent only two of the five accused to the magistrate. They did not want to give any statement. We have enough evidence against them. We are also waiting for the forensic investigation report. He said that statements recorded under Section 180 of the Indian Civil Security Code (BNSS) assist the authorities during investigation and cross-examination, but only statements recorded before the magistrate under Section 183 are important in the court.

Anand and Akash are accused of helping Sonam and Raj

Apart from Anand and Akash, Vishal Singh Chauhan had assisted Sonam and her lover Raj Kushwaha in killing her newlywed husband Raja during their honeymoon in Meghalaya last month. Raja, a resident of Indore, had married Sonam on May 11. According to the police, the marriage took place despite Sonam's relationship with Raj, who worked as an accountant in a furniture sheet company owned by her family.

The laptop has not been recovered yet

Giving information about the investigation of Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, Shillong Superintendent of Police said that we have recovered a gun, cartridges and Rs 50,000 from a vehicle. Raj and Akash had revealed a weapon in the bag. We want to find out whether material like laptops have been thrown away. They claimed that the laptops were thrown away, but we will interrogate them to find out where they were actually thrown. Are they still kept somewhere?

After their wedding in Indore, Raja and Sonam went to Meghalaya for their honeymoon. They went missing on May 23, a few hours after checking out of a homestay in Nongriat village, from where Raja's body was found on June 2.
