Meanwhile, former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Sushila Karki, who became the interim Prime Minister of the country, has clearly said that her government has come not to enjoy power but to stabilize the country.

"We have not come here to taste power. Our responsibility is only for six months. After that we will hand over power to the new Parliament. Without the support of the people, we cannot succeed," 73-year-old Karki told the media after assuming office.

Sushila Karki praised the movement

Sushila Karki praised the anti-corruption movement led by 'Gen Z' youth. It was this movement that ousted KP Sharma Oli's government from power. Karki said that those who lost their lives in this movement will be given the status of martyrs.

He announced that the families of the deceased will be given a compensation of 10 lakh Nepalese rupees. The government will bear the entire cost of treatment of the injured and financial help will also be provided if needed. According to 'The Himalayan Times', so far 72 people have died in the recent incidents, including 59 protesters, 10 prisoners and 3 policemen.

Affected people will get compensation

Karki expressed concern over the vandalism during the agitation. He said many private properties were damaged and incidents of arson took place. The government will investigate this and make arrangements to compensate the affected people.

He said that it seems that the vandalism and violence happened in a planned manner. This could be part of some conspiracy. Action will be taken against those found involved in it. The government indicated that compensation could be given in the form of soft loans or other means.

How did Sushila Karki become PM?

The interim Prime Minister said that Nepal is currently going through a serious economic crisis. Therefore, his priority will be to stabilize the economy and speed up the reconstruction work. Let us tell you, Karki has been made the interim PM only after the pressure of the youth and the movement intensified.
