News Topical, Digital Desk : The investigation into the death of the NEET student, who lived in Patna's Shambhu Girls Hostel, is still unclear. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) submitted a report but has not yet been made public. Meanwhile, on Saturday (January 31, 2026), a statement was released by the victim's lawyer, SK Pandey.
SK Pandey, the victim's lawyer, said, "The parents told us that the DGP was pressuring us. He was saying that you should assume that this is not rape or murder, but simply suicide. This is very sad in itself. It raises serious questions about the credibility and impartiality of the SIT and the investigating agencies. We are considering whatever legal action is required in this regard."
'Evidence and proof were destroyed'
Responding to a question, SK Pandey said, "The first step to justice is the impartiality of the investigating agencies. Given the circumstances in which the case is being handed over to the CBI... many crucial pieces of evidence have either been destroyed or erased. Justice can only be expected based on evidence... So, it would be inappropriate to speculate about what the CBI might do. We would be happy if the CBI investigates and reaches the real culprit."
'They are running away from their responsibility'
He clearly stated that we have not demanded a CBI investigation. Regarding the government's recommendation for a CBI investigation, he said, "We feel they (the Bihar government) are shirking their responsibility. Why hasn't the government taken action against those found guilty in the investigation so far, who tampered with evidence and proof? We demand that the officials responsible for the tampering with evidence and proof in this case be immediately prosecuted."
