News Topical, Digital Desk : The Indian Army has safely rescued 27 school students who were trapped in the flash floods caused by heavy rains in Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday (30 July). All these children were stuck in the bus while returning home after vacation from 'Rising Souls School'. 

Due to the rising water level and strong current of the Sindh river, these students were stranded in the bus near Pachavali village. According to PTI, seeing the seriousness of the situation, the administration took the help of the army and after a long wait of about 30 hours, the children were rescued safely.

How did the children get trapped and what was the situation?

The school bus carrying children was returning to Kundyai, Bijrauni and nearby villages after school. Due to sudden rise in water level on Sindh river near Pachavali village, crossing the bridge became impossible. Kolaras SDOP Sanjay Mishra said that the bus was stopped there after seeing the danger in crossing the bridge.

Seeing the situation worsening, the administration sought help from the army. An army team reached the spot and rescued the children one by one by boat. The children who were stranded for about 30 hours shouted slogans of 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' and 'Vande Mataram' after coming out safely.

After the children were rescued, their family members became emotional and heaved a sigh of relief. Kolaras MLA Mahendra Yadav, who reached the spot, thanked the army and the administration. The administration also warned the schools to decide on transportation only after looking at the weather conditions.

Army operation continues, more than 100 people have been rescued so far

The Indian Army also rescued many villagers trapped in the floods. The Army informed on 'X', 'The Army, SDRF and administration are continuously carrying out relief and rescue operations in Shivpuri, Guna and Ashoknagar districts. So far more than 100 civilians have been evacuated safely. Three flood relief columns and three medical teams have been deployed, which are engaged in helping the affected people round the clock.'
