News Topical, Digital Desk : A racket that defrauded the revenue by illegally mining and transporting gravel and sand using fake permits has been exposed. Fake computerized copies of permits issued in the name of mines in Banda district were being produced at a shop in Bhartikuup and were being used extensively in Chitrakoot.
One accused was arrested at the scene and 25 fake challans, a printer, a laptop, and other materials were recovered. Two other accused escaped from the scene. Preliminary investigations have raised the possibility of revenue losses worth lakhs of rupees.
One arrested in Mineral Department raid, laptop, printer and material recovered
On Monday, a team from the Mineral and Police Departments raided a shop located near the Bharat Petrol Pump in Bhartikuup, along the Jhansi-Mirzapur Highway. The operator locked the door from inside and escaped through the back door. Police opened the door and apprehended Yogendra Kumar, a resident of Bhartikuup.
He also revealed the names of two other racketeers. The recovered documents were issued in the names of mining leaseholders in the Naraini area of Banda, and were being used for illegal transportation.
Fake Ravana found being made at a shop in Chitrakoot, report filed against three
Mineral Inspector Mantu Singh said that this is an organized fraud that has been active for a long time. It has caused losses to the district's revenue. Links are being linked to Banda, so information is being sought from the Mineral Department there.
The station in-charge gave information
Station in-charge Upendra Pratap Singh said that a report has been filed against the accused under sections of the Uttar Pradesh Mineral Rules, Regulation of Mining and Mineral Development, Prevention of Damage to Public Property, and Fraud, and an investigation is underway. One accused has been arrested, while two are absconding.
