News Topical, Digital Desk : Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is on a visit to Kolkata, on Friday inaugurated the puja pandal at the famous Santosh Mitra Square in North Kolkata, which has built its pandal this time on the theme of 'Operation Sindoor'.

In his brief address on the occasion, Shah said that I have prayed to Maa Durga that after the upcoming assembly elections, a government should be formed in Bengal which can build Sonar Bangla. The glory of our Bengal should return and we should be able to build the Bengal of the imagination of Kaviguru Rabindranath Tagore.

Social reformer Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar remembered

Shah also expressed his condolences to the victims of heavy rains and the electrocution that killed more than 10 people in Kolkata and surrounding districts at the start of Durga Puja. The Home Minister said, "I and the entire BJP family stand with the affected families."

Shah, while extending his greetings to the people of Bengal and the entire country, said that the nine-day worship festival of Navratri has spread not only to Bengal and India but throughout the world. This great tradition of Durga Puja in Bengal has been accepted by the entire world. For nine days, everyone in Bengal dedicates themselves to the worship of Shakti.

On this occasion, Shah also remembered the educationist and great social reformer Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar on his birth anniversary. Shah said that Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar devoted his entire life to the fields of education and social reform for Bengal and the country. His contributions can never be forgotten.

Shah also offered prayers to Goddess Durga at the pandal.

The entire state BJP leadership, including Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Suvendu Adhikari and State President Shamik Bhattacharya, were present on the occasion. The puja was organized by Sajal Ghosh, a BJP councilor in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation. Shah then offered prayers at the Kalighat Temple, the Kalighat area where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee lives.

Shah will inaugurate two Durga Puja pandals in Kolkata this time. After offering prayers at the Kalighat Temple, Shah will inaugurate the Durga Puja organized by the state BJP at the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC) in Salt Lake.

Trinamool accused of removing banners and posters put up to welcome Amit Shah

Meanwhile, the BJP accused the ruling Trinamool Congress of removing banners and posters put up by the party in the Kalighat area to welcome the Home Minister. The BJP filed a complaint via email with the Kalighat police station. Later, the party re-installed the posters and banners at the same locations where they had been removed late last night.
