News Topical, Digital Desk : The Uttar Pradesh government is preparing to affiliate madrasas with state universities soon. Under this plan, the Madrasa Education Council's Kamil and Fazil examinations will be conducted by the respective universities. To implement this system, the government is amending the Uttar Pradesh State University Act, 1973. Once the amendment is implemented, madrasas, like colleges, will be affiliated with the university located in the same district.

Students who receive degrees from universities have significant advantages in pursuing higher education, securing jobs, and pursuing other academic pursuits, both domestically and abroad. Their degrees are universally recognized. In contrast, students who study in madrasas are denied these privileges, except in certain specialized areas, and their degrees are not universally recognized. Keeping this in mind, the government has taken this decision to ensure that madrasa students receive recognized degrees, just like other students, and gain access to education, respectable positions, and employment opportunities.

Under the new system, the university to which the madrasa is affiliated will conduct examinations in the madrasas under its jurisdiction with complete integrity and will also award degrees to the successful students.

The Higher Education Department has prepared a proposal to amend the Uttar Pradesh State Universities Act, 1973, to affiliate madrasas with state universities. After final scrutiny, it will be sent to the government.

What did Yogi's minister say on linking madrasas with universities?

The equivalence of the major degrees awarded in Madrasas is as follows - 'Munshi' is equivalent to high school, 'Maulavi' is equivalent to intermediate, 'Kamil' is equivalent to graduation and 'Fazil' is equivalent to post graduation.

The proposal submitted by the Higher Education Department will be sent to the Cabinet after receiving approval at the government level. Following this approval, the government will issue a government order.

Meanwhile, Minister Sanjay Nishad, speaking on the plan to affiliate UP madrasas with state universities, said, "This country used to be governed by Sharia, but now it is governed by the Constitution, and all education should be based on the Constitution and should be uniform. I have said this repeatedly. The law should be the same for everyone, whether it's religious education or any other type of education."
