The accident occurred on Saturday when a cage fell into a mine shaft.
Investigation into the accident has begun
The Emergency Management and Public Security Department are investigating the cause of the accident, trying to determine if there was any attempt to cover it up. According to the Qichacha Company Registry, the mine is owned by Zhaojin Mining Industry, a major gold producer. The company's shares reportedly fell 6.01%.
According to Reuters, the matter is under investigation. There have been no major updates so far. China's Emergency Management Ministry held a meeting on Monday to prevent accidents during the upcoming Lunar New Year holidays. It announced inspections of mines, chemical companies, and other hazardous operations.
