The incident occurred in Jalna district, Maharashtra, between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. on Friday. The incident has caused panic among students and their families. Local residents and parents have expressed concern over the rising stress levels among schoolchildren and have urged authorities to ensure strong emotional support systems are in place in educational institutions.
Jumped from the third floor of the school
According to Sadar Police Inspector Sandeep Bharti, police received information around 8 a.m. about a girl who had allegedly jumped from the top floor of the school. A police team immediately arrived at the scene and began a preliminary investigation. The girl, a Class 7 student, was found in critical condition and taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Police are investigating
Inspector Bharti said that a preliminary investigation is underway and is being examined from several angles. He further added, "On Friday morning, between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m., we received information that a 13-year-old school girl had committed suicide by jumping from the school roof. The investigation is ongoing. At present, only preliminary information has been received; the real reason behind this will be revealed only after a full investigation."
Suicide note not found
Police investigating the incident have begun speaking with school officials, classmates, and family members to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident. CCTV footage from the school campus is also being examined to determine the sequence of events. Officials said no suicide note has been found yet.
The body has been sent for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities have assured the family of a thorough and transparent investigation.
