News Topical, Digital Desk : The Supreme Court on Monday refused to hear a plea challenging the 'logical discrepancy' category in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bengal.

A bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice Vipul Pancholi also questioned the petitioner's move to approach the apex court under Article 32.

Go to the Election Commission

The bench told the petitioner, " You want us to consider the petition filed under Article 32 and decide who is your father, your mother and your brother? Go to the Election Commission."

It may be noted that the Supreme Court was hearing a petition filed by Mohammad Jimfarhad Nawaz, in which it was requested to issue a direction that the logical discrepancy category included in the SIR in Bengal is against the provisions of Articles 14 and 324 of the Constitution.

The petitioner had also challenged the notice issued to him by the Election Commission under the logical inconsistency category.
