News Topical, Digital Desk : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath  held a high-level security and arrangements review meeting with senior officials of the respective districts via video conferencing on Friday evening in view of the upcoming festivals and the Magh Mela. In the meeting, the Chief Minister clarified that the safety, convenience, and smooth conduct of the devotees are the state government's top priorities, and negligence at any level will not be acceptable.

 The Chief Minister directed officials in all major districts associated with the Magh Mela, including Prayagraj, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Chitrakoot, Hapur (Garhmukteshwar), Mathura-Vrindavan, Farrukhabad, and Shahjahanpur, to ensure the movement of devotees, cleanliness of the ghats and temple complexes, uninterrupted power supply, changing rooms for women, a control room, crowd management, and smooth entry and exit to the fair area. The Chief Minister said that under no circumstances should anarchy be encouraged and that all devotees should be able to bathe and worship in a safe environment.

Cleanliness campaign will gain momentum

The Chief Minister directed special efforts to strengthen health services in Prayagraj, anticipating the arrival of an estimated 1.5 to 2.5 million devotees on Paush Purnima. He said adequate arrangements should be made for hospitals, medical staff, ambulances, clean toilets, drinking water, and women's facilities. Adequate divers should be deployed at the ghats to address any emergencies immediately.

Giving top priority to the safety of women, the Chief Minister directed that suspicious and unruly elements be identified and strict action be taken against them in the fair areas and public places. The administration should ensure that no female devotee faces any inconvenience or fear.

Directing the Urban Development and Panchayati Raj Department, the Chief Minister said that the cleanliness campaign should be intensified in all districts, especially in slums, ensuring comprehensive sanitation and access to clean drinking water to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. He said that a clean and healthy environment is every citizen's right.

Measures to prevent cold wave

In view of the severe cold wave, the Chief Minister directed adequate arrangements for night shelters, bonfires, and enhanced lighting at railway stations, bus stands, and public places. He clearly stated that no one should be forced to sleep under the open sky. Police patrolling should be increased and those in need should be transported to night shelters.

Officers should inspect at night

The Chief Minister said that all senior officials should inspect the fair site tonight and instruct subordinate officers and employees to ensure all arrangements are in place. In case of high currents and deep river flows, barricades should be erected to ensure safety. No boatman should charge arbitrary fees from pilgrims.

 In this regard, he issued strict instructions regarding charging of arbitrary fares for boat operations at pilgrimage places and other important places and arbitrariness by hotels that no such activity should take place and senior officers should go to the field to ensure this.

Strict action against anti-social elements

The Chief Minister directed strict action against those who, in the name of organizations, spread anarchy, engage in hooliganism, or exert pressure on the administration. He stated that there would be no compromise with law and order, and that ordinary citizens would not be allowed to face any inconvenience.

The Chief Minister directed all districts of the state to work on flood protection plans and develop a detailed action plan within the next 10 days. He also directed that the Chief Minister's Office, the Chief Secretary, and the Principal Secretary be informed of this matter. Directing strict action against land grabbing mafia and anti-social elements, the Chief Minister stated that the protection of public land and property is the state government's responsibility, and no laxity will be tolerated at any level.

Public hearing system will be effective

While directing the public hearing system to be made more effective, the Chief Minister said that regular public hearings should be held at the district level to ensure timely resolution of complaints. Any negligence found will result in accountability for the concerned officials. At the meeting, the Chief Minister directed the Public Works Department to identify land for permanent helipads near district headquarters, circuit houses, tehsil and block headquarters and take necessary action to eliminate future reliance on temporary arrangements.

Also, taking cognizance of the problem of traffic jams on the roads, the Chief Minister directed that illegal taxi stands, bus stands, and vendors be removed and relocated to designated locations, ensuring smooth traffic flow and providing relief to the public from traffic jams. Finally, the Chief Minister urged all departments to work in coordination and on a war footing to ensure that an atmosphere of peace, security, and order prevails in the state during festivals and the Magh Mela.
