Dry days will be observed in 29 municipal corporation areas from January 13th to 16th. During this period, the sale, purchase, and consumption of alcohol will be completely prohibited. Bars and liquor shops will remain closed. Strict action will be taken against those violating the rules. The primary purpose of this measure is to ensure peaceful and fair elections.

Dry day in Maharashtra from January 13 to January 16

The campaign for the upcoming municipal elections in Maharashtra will end on January 13th. Public rallies and political activities by parties and candidates will cease. A dry period will begin with the end of campaigning on January 13th. Officials stated that the dry days from January 13th to January 16th are intended to maintain law and order, ensure peaceful campaigning, and conduct fair elections. 

Bars and all liquor shops will remain closed.

The administration has announced that liquor shops, bars, permit rooms, and all alcohol-selling stores will remain closed for four days within the designated municipal limits. Officials have appealed to citizens, voters, and businesses to support the decision and adhere to the restrictions imposed. An official said, "The dry day is part of a strategy to prevent any untoward incident during the elections and ensure a smooth voting process."

When is the voting for the 29 municipal elections?

Liquor vendors have already been informed of the restrictions on alcohol. Police and local authorities will maintain a strict vigil in public places. Officials have clearly warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone violating the rules. Voting for the 29 municipal corporations in the state, including BMAC, Pune, and Pimpri-Chinchwad, will be held on January 15th. Counting of votes will take place on January 16th.
