News Topical, Digital Desk : It is being said that in the war between Iran and Israel, Iran prevailed over Israel. But do you know that Israel attacked secretly and Israeli military generals killed top military commanders of Iran. But there is no news of the death of any top Israeli commander.

Israel launched an operation to eliminate Iran's top military commanders

In a covert attack reminiscent of the Game of Thrones-esque "Red Wedding," Israeli military generals carried out a carefully planned operation on June 13 to eliminate Iran's top military commanders. It was an Operation Narnia-like operation. It was a deadly mission in which nine of Iran's most prominent nuclear scientists were assassinated in their homes in Tehran.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Major General Oded Basiuk, head of the Israeli Military Operations Directorate and a key architect of the attack, said that when we started planning this thing in detail, it was very difficult to know whether it would work or not and undoubtedly these operations have strengthened Israel's position as the undisputed military power in the region.

The foundation of the mission was not laid overnight, but in the 1990s

i

The foundations of this mission were not laid overnight. It all began in the mid-1990s when Israeli intelligence first flagged Iran's covert efforts to develop nuclear weapons. What began as a vast network of spies turned into a devastating campaign that culminated in two bombings of enrichment facilities, and the elimination of Iranian scientists.

Israel wanted to end Iran's nuclear program

But when Iran did not back down from its nuclear program, Israel concluded that sabotage alone was not enough; the entire program must be destroyed. Several times, Israel came close to launching a full-scale attack.

Netanyahu earlier kept denying to directly attack

Nevertheless, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was repeatedly rejected by his own cabinet and security chiefs over the proposal because they feared a direct war with Iran could rupture relations with the US, which then preferred diplomacy over military strikes.

Everything changed after Hamas attacked Israel

Everything changed after Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023. In the two years that followed, Israel nearly destroyed Hamas and significantly weakened Hezbollah. Meanwhile, opposition forces toppled Syria's Iran-backed government and replaced it with an anti-Iran regime—opening Syrian airspace to Israeli jets.

Mossad's network has become very strong in Iran

By then, Israel's spy network inside Iran had grown very strong. Agents were monitoring Iranian military leaders in real time. Drone bases set up inside the country were ready to knock out Iranian air defenses. In fact, Israel had already crippled Tehran's most advanced air-defense systems in two attacks in April and October 2024.

As 2024 drew to a close, intelligence revealed that Iran had begun enriching uranium to weapons-grade levels—putting them just months away from building a nuclear bomb. Fearing that time was running out, Israel activated Operation Narnia to destroy Iran's nuclear plant.

Iran's key nuclear scientists, nuclear facilities, missile sites identified

In November, 120 intelligence and air force officers gathered to draw up a kill list. They identified 250 targets, including nuclear facilities, missile sites, senior military commanders and leading scientists. But for this Israel needed not only a precision strike but also complete superiority in the air.

Mossad played an important role

This is where Mossad came into play. Agents smuggled hundreds of quadcopter drones, all armed with explosives, hidden in luggage, shipping containers and trucks. Remote-controlled weapons were also deployed in Iran. Secret teams were stationed near Iran's air defense systems, ready to disable them as soon as the operation began.

Netanyahu made a big move

The final green light came on June 9. To ensure that Iran's top brass did not scatter, Netanyahu made a public appearance. He announced that he was taking a personal leave for his eldest son's wedding. He later revealed that none of his family members, neither his wife nor his son, knew that the wedding was being postponed.

Trump also supported Netanyahu

At the same time, Israeli officials leaked reports of a rift between Netanyahu and U.S. President Donald Trump, including details of a tense phone call in which Trump urged diplomacy and warned against unilateral attacks.

While Trump was talking about diplomacy, Israeli generals were finalizing the attacks

On the morning of the attack, Trump told reporters that the US and Iran were "very close to a deal" and made it clear that Washington did not want Israel "involved." But by then, Israeli generals were already finalizing their attack plans.

Trump also made a move

An Israeli security official said it was important to put the idea in the minds of the Iranians that Israel would not attack without the permission and involvement of the US. As Israeli fighter jets took to the skies, Trump posted on Truth Social that we are committed to a diplomatic solution to the Iran nuclear issue.

Then 'Operation Red Wedding' started

Operation Red Wedding was designed to crush Iran's military leadership in one blow. At the same time, Israeli jets and drones were tasked with destroying missile launchers and nuclear sites to reduce Iran's future capabilities.

All important military commanders and scientists were killed in precision strikes

Then came an unexpected twist. Israeli surveillance spotted Iran's air force leadership suddenly gathering in planning. For a moment, Israeli commanders feared they had been leaked. But instead, Iran's military leaders had unwittingly gathered in one location, making them an even easier target. Within minutes, Israeli missiles struck, obliterating them.
