New Delhi. In today's digital age, everyone spends most of their time surrounded by technology and gadgets. Be it children or adults, everyone is seen carrying some digital device with them. However, being surrounded by these devices all the time also causes many problems. Especially children have become addicted to mobile phones and games these days. Parents busy with their work often give mobile phones or games to their children to entertain them, which has a bad effect on the children. Gaming addiction is one of these problems.

These days many children are falling prey to gaming addiction. Gaming addiction is emerging as a very serious problem. Gaming addiction can prove to be very dangerous especially for the developing brain of children. Like drug addiction, it plays with the brain of children and then messes with their bodies. Let us know some ways to avoid this-

Why does game addiction occur?

Games challenge us to accept new tasks and challenges after each task, which forces the human psyche to keep moving to the next level to prove its ability until it is declared the winner. To feel the happiness that comes from this, these simple looking games take the form of addiction. Children do not want to play easy boring games, they focus more on games that give achievements by accepting challenges, which easily leads to addiction.

The short-term virtual achievement makes them feel like they are part of a mission and they keep playing it eagerly, which turns into an addiction.

Effects of game addiction

When children are asked to stop playing games, they start to feel that the real world is very normal and boring and nothing seems as interesting as their games, due to which they start to behave irritably. Then when they get the game back, they become normal and feel like a hero who is out to save the world. Then the more they play games, the more difficult it becomes to get out of this addiction.

How to protect children from game addiction?

  • Instead of facing fake challenges, teach children to become heroes in real life. Give them real-life challenges in which they can keep themselves busy and they can have real-life experiences of achievement like gaming. This will also improve their personality, they will understand real-life challenges and learn to handle them.
  • Whatever app the child plays games on, control it with OTP or password so that the child cannot open it easily.
  • Set a maximum game limit of one to two hours and make a strict rule not to tolerate any kind of modification in it.
  • Understand the age limit of playing the game yourself and only then give permission to download it.
  • Do not allow playing nudity, bloodshed, violent and aggressive games.
  • Encourage your child to participate in outdoor games, sunlight exposure and exercise so that he/she becomes healthy and strong and keeps him/her so busy that he/she does not get time to play games.
