Hanuman ji rested here on Sita ji's request, due to which Hanuman ji is worshipped in a lying down position at this place.
Other stories related to the temple
There is another story related to the construction of the temple, according to which, in ancient times, a merchant was carrying this idol of Hanuman ji in a boat. When the boat reached the banks of Sangam, this idol of Hanuman ji fell here.
The businessman tried very hard to lift the statue of Hanuman ji, but he could not even move it. At night, the businessman had a dream in which Hanuman ji appeared before him and said that he wanted to sit on this confluence. Then the businessman allowed this statue of Hanuman ji to remain here.
Specialty of the temple
This temple is said to be at least 600-700 years old. The idol installed in the reclining temple is about 20 feet tall. Also, this idol goes 6-7 feet below the ground. Kamada Devi is shown suppressed under the left leg of this idol and Ahiravan is shown suppressed under the right leg.
Ram and Lakshman are seated on Hanuman's right hand and he has a mace in his left hand. Also, the biggest specialty of this temple is that Ganga herself enters the temple to bathe Hanuman. This scene is very amazing.
