News Topical, Digital Desk : The names of doctors from a specific community have emerged in the car bombing in front of the Red Fort in the national capital. They were planning a major terrorist plot in the country. Following the revelation of their names, a sensational incident occurred at Kolkata University.
Just days after the Delhi bombings, a case of hate speech against a particular community has surfaced at a university in Kolkata. Some people have painted hate speech slogans on the university walls, sparking protests from some.
Hateful messages written on the walls
This incident occurred at the Indian Statistical Institute in Kolkata. The walls of the campus boys' hostel are marked in chalk, "Dogs and Muslims are not allowed in." A dustbin reads, "This is the only place suitable for Muslims." Furthermore, the door of CV Raman Hall reads, “Muslims are not allowed in.”
Protests on campus
Many people have taken a stand against these slogans on campus, including some students. They say, "Throw your religious hatred here!" Article 15 of the Constitution has been posted at the main entrance of the hostel.
It should be noted that Article 15 provides a fundamental right against discrimination on the basis of religion, caste, sex, colour, or place of birth. In addition to protesting, several students also complained to the Dean on November 13th. Dean Biswabrata Pradhan has also signed the students' demand.
Dean warned
Biswabrata Pradhan said, "The institute strongly condemns this incident. The college administration will take strict action against the accused for hurting the sentiments of a particular community."
