News Topical, Digital Desk : Kedarnath Helicopter Crash: The 7 people who died in the helicopter crash in Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag district on Sunday also included a family from Yavatmal in Maharashtra, which included a couple and their two-year-old daughter, while their son survived as he stayed back in Maharashtra with his grandfather. Seven people, who were returning from Kedarnath Dham by helicopter, died in this accident that took place amid poor visibility in the forests of Gaurikund in Rudraprayag on Sunday. The bodies of all seven people were badly burnt.

The businessman's wife and daughter died along with him

The Yavatmal family that died in the accident included Raj Kumar Jaiswal (a transport businessman), his wife Shraddha and their two-year-old daughter Kashi. News agency PTI gave this information quoting Vishwas Nandekar, former MLA of Wani in Maharashtra. Jaiswal along with his family had left from Wani in Yavatmal on June 12 to visit the Kedarnath temple.

The couple's son Vivaan survived the accident as he was staying with his grandfather in Pandharkawada in Maharashtra and did not go on the trip with the family. The helicopter pilot Rajveer Singh Chauhan and Vikram Singh Rawat, a member of the Badrinath-Uttarakhand Temple Trust, were also killed. Apart from them, Vinod Devi (66) and Tusti Singh (19) from Uttar Pradesh also died.

What was the cause of the helicopter crash?

According to Rudraprayag District Disaster Management Officer Nandan Singh Rajwar, zero visibility due to bad weather probably caused the accident. The Civil Aviation Ministry said the accident will be investigated by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB).
