
News Topical, Digital Desk : Former Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud said that judges play an important role in healing the wounds of society not only by listening sympathetically but also through their decisions.
Sometimes, listening to a citizen patiently is also an act of healing. Speaking as the chief guest at the 79th Independence Day celebrations of the Meghalaya High Court, former Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said independence is not just freedom from colonial rule but also the inner liberation of the mind and soul.
Appeal to the youth
He called upon the youth to protect India's diversity and nurture their entrepreneurial energy and turn it into self-motivation. The former CJI praised the Meghalaya High Court, which he described as a 'sentinel of governance' and a bridge between citizens and law in a culturally rich state.
Appreciated India's progress
He praised India's progress in education, infrastructure and food self-sufficiency and said better connectivity between Guwahati and Shillong was a sign of development.
