News Topical, Digital Desk : Another horrific face of superstition has emerged in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district. In Kudasai Kalaiya village, under the Kumardungi police station area, a happy family was devastated on suspicion of witchcraft.
In this horrific incident, which took place on Wednesday (February 18, 2026), rioters doused a woman and her innocent child with petrol and burned them alive. The woman's husband, Kolhan Sinku, also suffered severe burns in this deadly attack.
Poured petrol and set it on fire
Upon receiving information about the incident, the police department was shaken. Jagannathpur Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Rafael Murmu, stated that police received information around 6:10 a.m. that a family had been attacked on the charge of witchcraft. Upon the Superintendent of Police's direction, a special team was immediately formed and sent to the scene. Investigation revealed that the accused had doused the house with petrol and set it on fire, resulting in the tragic death of the mother and son. Police also recovered a plastic container filled with petrol from the scene.
4 accused arrested, FSL collected evidence
Based on the statement of the victim, Kolhan Sinku, case number 06/2026 has been registered at the Kumardungi police station. The named accused include Rasika alias Cheche Biruwa, Suna Biruwa, Delka Sinku, Jena Biruwa, and Sukumari Biruwa. Acting swiftly, the police have arrested the main accused, Rasika alias Cheche Biruwa, along with Jena Biruwa, Sona Biruwa, and Delka Sinku.
FSL team collected scientific evidence
Given the seriousness of the case, a team from the State Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) also inspected the scene and collected scientific evidence. Police teams are conducting raids to arrest the other absconding accused. This brutal murder has shocked the entire area.
