Srinagar. Jammu Kashmir Cloud Burst: A road has been damaged due to cloudburst in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir. Due to this the main Srinagar-Leh national highway has been closed. Many houses and vehicles have also been damaged.
Traffic suspended till further notice
Traffic on the Srinagar-Leh road has been suspended till further notice due to road damage at Kacherwan in Ganderbal district. Some buildings including residential houses have been damaged due to flash floods caused by cloudburst. The road was damaged due to cloudburst during the month of May.
Officers present on the spot to assist
Officials are present on the spot to provide assistance to those in need. The closure of the highway has cut off the Kashmir Valley from the Ladakh Union Territory while the Baltal base camp for the Amarnath Yatra has also become inaccessible.
Officials reached the spot to assess the damage. According to locals, several roads and crops have also been damaged due to the massive cloudburst in Kangan, Ganderbal. District administration officials have reached the spot to assess the damage and take stock of the situation.
