News Topical, Digital Desk : Israeli President Isaac Herzog arrived in Sydney, Australia on Monday. His four-day visit is specifically designed to show support for the Jewish community in Australia following the terrorist attack on Bondi Beach last December. Thousands of people protested against the Israeli president in Australia.

Herzog's visit comes at the invitation of Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, following the December 14 shooting at a Hanukkah event at Sydney's Bondi Beach that left 15 people dead. The visit has sparked anger among some in Australia.

Protesters are accusing Herzog of involvement in the deaths of civilians in Gaza. Pro-Palestinian groups held protests in cities and towns across the country, chanting pro-Palestinian slogans. Tight security measures have been put in place in light of the situation.

A large police presence was deployed in New South Wales state for Herzog's visit. A helicopter circled overhead and officers patrolled on horseback. Several protesters were arrested in clashes with police.
