News Topical, Digital Desk : Israel launched airstrikes overnight despite the ongoing ceasefire in Gaza. Medical officials say the death toll from overnight Israeli airstrikes in Gaza has risen to 81. Gaza's Civil Defense Agency has accused Hamas of attacking its troops and violating the US-brokered ceasefire.

In fact, initially, more than 30 people were reported dead in the Gaza airstrike. Later, at least 60 people, including several children, were reported killed. Mohammed Abu Selmiya, director of Shifa Hospital, said the hospital had received 21 more bodies of those killed in the attacks, including seven women and six children. This brings the total number of deaths in the Gaza airstrike to 81.

The death toll may increase

Mohammed Abu Selmiya, director of Shifa Hospital, said he feared the death toll would rise as many of the 45 wounded, including 20 children, were in critical condition at the hospital in Gaza City.

The ceasefire came into effect again

Significantly, this report comes at a time when the Israeli military has stated that a ceasefire has been re-imposed after heavy airstrikes in Gaza. It added that the Israeli military will continue to abide by the ceasefire agreement, but will respond "firmly" to any violations of the agreement.

Netanyahu gave the order

Following Hamas's firing on Israeli forces in southern Gaza, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday ordered the army to immediately launch a massive offensive against Gaza. Israeli forces then launched a heavy bombardment of Gaza late at night, accompanied by the sounds of tank fire and explosions. Israel and Hamas have accused each other of violating the ceasefire.
