News Topical, Digital Desk : The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) claimed to have targeted Iranian National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani and Basij Force Commander Gholam Reza Soleimani on Tuesday (March 17, 2026). The IDF confirmed Soleimani's death, but it is not yet clear whether Larijani, a top Iranian power figure, was killed or injured in the attack.
Israeli Defense Minister Katz claimed that Larijani was killed in the IDF strike. Larijani's office said he would address the press shortly. Ali Larijani was considered one of Iran's most powerful figures after the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in the Israeli and US strikes. Larijani was a close aide to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
