News Topical, Digital Desk : US President Donald Trump and top Iranian officials exchanged threats on Friday as large-scale economic protests erupted in parts of Iran, further escalating tensions between the two countries following the US bombing of Iranian nuclear sites in June.

Trump initially warned Iran on his Truthout social platform that the United States would come to its aid if it violently killed peaceful protesters. At least seven people have been killed so far in violence related to these protests, sparked by the collapse of Iran's rial currency. "We are fully prepared and ready to go," Trump wrote, without providing further details.

Iran accuses Israel and America

Shortly thereafter, Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council and former parliament speaker, accused Israel and the United States of inciting the protests on the social platform X. He provided no evidence to support this allegation.

"You must take care of your soldiers."

"Trump should know that US interference in a domestic problem will cause chaos in the entire region and destroy US interests. The American people should know that Trump started this adventure. He should take care of his soldiers," Larijani wrote on X.

Larijani's comments referred to the US's large military presence in the region. Iran attacked Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar after the US struck three nuclear sites during the 12-day war on the Islamic Republic of Israel in June.

Ali Shamkhani, an adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, warned, "Any interfering hand that comes too close to Iran's security will be cut off. The Iranian people know well the experience of being 'saved' by the Americans: from Iraq and Afghanistan to Gaza."
