Israel is running Operation Rising Lion
In an interview, Azar denied US involvement in this attack (Operation Rising Lion). However, he said that US President Donald Trump was informed about it. When asked if Iran will now target US bases in the region after this attack, Azar said that it completely depends on the Iranians. If they continue their aggression, they will have to face the consequences.
Reuven Azar stressed that various countries are responding responsibly to Israel's action against Iran. He said that Israel has shared intelligence with the International Atomic Energy Agency, friendly countries and Western powers. These countries understand Iran's "cruelty and fanaticism".
Nuclear weapons were ready, a secret network was assembling them
Reuven Azar said that in the last few months Iran has increased the pace of uranium enrichment. So far it has collected enriched uranium for nine nuclear bombs. But, the immediate context in which we had to take action is the fact that there was a secret group which was working on assembling a nuclear weapon on a ballistic missile.
This could have led to a situation in which Israel could be attacked with nuclear ballistic missiles. The ambassador said that the International Atomic Energy Agency has determined that Iran has violated the security agreement. It is involved in illegal nuclear activities.
Israel is defending itself
The Israeli ambassador denied the existence of a formal military alliance, but underlined growing regional cooperation to counter threats from Iran and its allies.
Said that Israel is running Operation Rising Lion independently for its survival, while coordination with Arab countries has deepened after the Abraham Accords. Israel is taking action on its own to defend itself. However, the help and assistance of our partners is important.
Supported Operation Sindoor
Reuven Azar has supported India's military action Operation Sindoor, which targeted terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He said that Israel and India support each other's right to self-defense. He emphasized that there is a relationship of trust between India and Israel. As the challenges facing both countries increase, this relationship will deepen.
