News Topical, Digital Desk : Jugal Hansraj has been a part of the Hindi film industry since childhood. He has played the role of a child artist for many actors. But the year 2000 changed everything for him. His role as a romantic hero in Mohabbatein made him a national crush overnight.

Working since the age of 10

Jugal signed around 40 films when he was at the peak of his career. However, luck did not favour him and with time people started calling him 'unlucky'. Born on 26 July 1972 in Mumbai, Jugal is the son of former cricketer Praveen Hansraj. Choosing a different path from his father, he entered acting at the age of 10. He won everyone's heart with his role in the 1983 film Masoom, even while acting alongside veteran actors like Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi.

Worked with Shah Rukh in Mohabbatein

But it is not necessary that the actor who is liked by the people as a child actor gets the same fame when he grows up. Jugal made his debut as a lead actor with "Aa Gale Lag Jaa" opposite Urmila Matondkar. Though their on-screen pairing was liked, the film did not do much wonders at the box office. He got real success years later with "Mohabbatein", in which he played the character of Sameer Sharma.

There was a dating rumor with this actress

Despite sharing screen space with veteran actors like Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, Jugal stood out in Mohabbatein and was well received for his role. His chemistry with co-actor Kim Sharma became a topic of discussion. There were also rumours of a real-life romance between the two, but neither of them confirmed these speculations. His character of Sameer is one of his most memorable performances.

40 films slipped out of hand

Sadly, despite the success, many of the 40 films he signed either got shelved or never released. He started getting a tag of an unlucky actor in the industry. According to an IANS report, this image stayed with him for a while, though he personally never let it affect his emotions. He once said, "Whatever is meant for you will come to you."

also worked as a model

Years later, Jugal tried to make a comeback with the film "Nadaniyaan" starring Saif Ali Khan's son Ibrahim Ali Khan. But the film did not do well and Jugal too got overshadowed. Before entering films, he worked as a model in TV and print advertisements. Over the years, he also tried his hand at direction and writing and made a mark in other areas of filmmaking as well. Jugal Hansraj now lives in New York with his wife and children.
