News Topical, Digital Desk : The series of deaths due to contaminated drinking water continues in Indore's Bhagirathpura. 65-year-old Bhagwan Bharane, a resident of Imli Gali, died on Monday while undergoing treatment at Shelby Hospital. Earlier on Sunday, the 22nd death was reported. 59-year-old Kamla Bai, a resident of Bhagirathpura, who was admitted to the ICU of MY Hospital, died during treatment.

It should be noted that more than 3,300 people have fallen ill due to contaminated drinking water. Many of these people are still hospitalized. According to landlord Manoj Kumar, Kamala Bai had rented a room with her husband Tulsiram about a month ago. The couple earned their living by working as laborers. On January 6th, she complained of vomiting and diarrhea. Her family took her to the Sanjeevani Clinic. She was given first aid and medication and sent home.

A health department team arrived in the neighborhood and gave the patient ORS and some tablets, but her condition didn't improve. On January 7th, her family took her to MY Hospital, where doctors admitted her to the ICU, considering her critical condition. Despite all efforts, Kamalabai died on the morning of January 9th.

Things will become clearer after the post-mortem.

However, hospital management stated that the deceased suffered from chronic kidney disease. She was prescribed dialysis, but did not receive it regularly. While clinically, this case cannot be considered related to a contaminated water outbreak, an autopsy has been conducted to clarify the situation.

It's worth noting that the Bhagirathpura incident in Indore came to light on December 29th, when more than 100 people fell ill. Only after this did reports of deaths from contaminated water begin to emerge. The first death in the case occurred on December 21st.

Meanwhile, a public interest litigation related to the matter will be heard in the High Court today. The petition seeks to ensure the permanent availability of clean drinking water in the affected area. The court has summoned a response from the Municipal Corporation, which is expected to determine the administration's accountability in this entire matter.
