News Topical, Digital Desk : IndiGo, the country's largest airline, is rapidly improving its operations. The company reported operating more than 1,650 flights today, compared to 1,500 yesterday. 137 of the airline's 138 destinations are fully operational. On-time flight performance has also increased from 30% to 75%.
IndiGo has announced that all customers will be fully waived for ticket cancellations or travel changes until December 15. Refunds and baggage returns are also being processed rapidly.
government's strictness
The Ministry of Civil Aviation stated that it has taken swift action to mitigate the inconvenience caused to passengers by IndiGo's problems. All other domestic airlines are operating flights normally, and IndiGo 's situation has improved today.
Recent flight cancellations caused fares to rise on many routes. To counter this, the Ministry immediately imposed fare caps. Subsequently, fares returned to normal levels. All airlines have been ordered to adhere to the established fare caps.
Refunds and Rebooking
The ministry has strictly ordered IndiGo to complete refunds for all cancelled or severely delayed flights by 8 pm today. IndiGo has already issued refunds totaling ₹610 crore. No additional charges will be levied for travel changes. Special assistance teams have also been formed to assist passengers.
The ministry has asked IndiGo to return lost luggage to passengers within 48 hours . The airline has so far returned 3,000 bags to passengers.
Situation normal at airports
Airport directors in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Goa reported that all terminals were operating normally today. There was no congestion at check-in, security, and boarding points. Airport operators and CISF have also increased ground support.
24 x7 control room
MoCA 's control room is operating 24 hours a day. Flights, airport conditions, and passenger assistance are being continuously monitored. Immediate assistance is being provided as needed. The Ministry stated that passenger safety and convenience are its top priority and the situation will return to normal soon.
