News Topical, Digital Desk : Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat said during an event on Sunday, December 21, that India is a Hindu nation and this does not require any constitutional proof as it is the truth.
Mohan Bhagwat made this statement during an event marking the 100th anniversary of the RSS. The RSS chief said that India is a Hindu nation and will remain so as long as Indian culture is respected in the country.
'India is a Hindu nation'
Mohan Bhagwat said during a 100-lecture series in Kolkata that the sun rises in the east, and we don't know how long this has been happening. So do we need a Constitution to prove this? Similarly, India is a Hindu nation.
Mohan Bhagwat further stated that the RSS's ideology is that anyone who considers India their motherland respects Indian culture. As long as there is even one person alive on the soil of Hindustan who believes in and respects the glory of Indian ancestors, India will be a Hindu nation.
Caste system based on birth not identity
During his address, Mohan Bhagwat further stated that even if Parliament were to amend the Constitution and add this word, whether it does so or not is irrelevant, as it does not affect us. We are Hindus, and our country is a Hindu nation; this is the truth. A caste system based on birth is not a hallmark of Hinduism.
The RSS chief further said that the word 'secular' was not originally part of the Preamble of the Constitution but was added along with the word 'socialist' by the Constitution (42nd Amendment) Act, 1976 during the Emergency under Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
