News Topical, Digital Desk : Significant news has emerged for Indian passport holders regarding Iran. Iran has suspended visa exemption for ordinary Indian passport holders. India's Ministry of External Affairs announced this on Monday. The reason behind this has also been revealed.

What was the reason for the decision?

The Ministry of External Affairs stated that the decision was taken in light of numerous incidents of Indians being lured to Iran with false promises of employment or assurances of transit to other countries. The Ministry stated that the government had come across numerous incidents in which Indian citizens were lured to Iran with false promises of employment.

When will the facility be suspended?

Iran has suspended visa exemption for ordinary Indian passport holders from November 22. The Ministry of External Affairs said this was done to ensure that the facility is not misused.

How can I enter Iran now?

Indian citizens holding ordinary passports will now need a visa to enter Iran. "People were taken to Iran by taking advantage of the visa exemption facility available to ordinary Indian passport holders. Upon reaching Iran, many of them were kidnapped for ransom," the ministry said.

The Ministry of External Affairs also issued a warning

The Ministry of External Affairs also urged Indians wishing to travel to Iran to remain on high alert. Avoid any agents offering visa-free travel or onward travel to third countries via Iran.

It's worth noting that a large number of people from India travel to Iran in search of employment, but they often fall prey to agents who, for a pittance, endanger the lives of Indians. Once they leave India, they become helpless, and foreigners exploit this helplessness.
