News Topical, Digital Desk : US President Donald Trump on Wednesday once again took credit for the alleged ceasefire between India and Pakistan, telling lawmakers in his State of the Union address that his intervention had averted a potential nuclear conflict between the two countries.

The US President further stated that the situation could have escalated into a nuclear war. "A nuclear war would have broken out between Pakistan and India. If I hadn't intervened,  30 million people would have died in this war.  The Prime Minister of Pakistan (Shahbaz Sharif) told me so," Trump said.

India-Pakistan have claimed ceasefire many times

Earlier last week, Trump reiterated his claim that he prevented the India-Pakistan conflict of May 2025. Speaking at a Board of Peace event, US President Donald Trump reportedly warned India and Pakistan that trade talks would be halted if they did not resolve their differences.

In recent months, Trump has claimed more than 80 times that he was the one who prevented the India-Pakistan conflict. He has also given varying figures on different occasions regarding the number of jets shot down during the conflict. However, he did not specify which side's aircraft he was referring to.
