First train in Mizoram after independence

Talking about rail infrastructure, Indian Railways has made historic progress in Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram. Mizoram is going to get its first passenger train in the history of independent India. Rail connectivity has also been expanded to Manipur and Nagaland, increasing both passenger traffic and freight carrying capacity in the region.

Before 2014, rail facilities were quite limited

Since 2014, a number of important projects have been initiated and completed to enhance railway connectivity in the North Eastern States (North East), particularly in States like Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Meghalaya and Tripura, which earlier had limited rail facilities.
