News Topical, Digital Desk : A major accident occurred today at the Mansa Devi Temple in Haridwar. Six devotees died and about 36 people were injured in a stampede on the temple's footpath. Due to the month of Sawan and Sunday, a huge crowd of devotees had gathered at the Mansa Devi Temple today. There was a huge crowd of people on the temple's staircase, when a stampede occurred. Some people are saying that a rumour of electric current in the temple led to panic and people died after falling on the stairs. The Haridwar police is also calling the news of electric current in the temple a rumour. The police is saying that the accident occurred due to the gathering of a huge crowd at the temple.

The person who set up a shop on the pedestrian path told this

Avadhesh, who runs a prasad shop on the footpath, told that an elderly woman fell after which there was chaos and a stampede began. He told that no wire was broken, no current was passed, it was a rumour. Today, even after the crowd increased, the administration kept the same route for coming and going due to which there was no space left even to put a foot on the footpath. During the Kanwar, devotees used to go towards the temple from the CDO and used to come down from the back way, that is, the way to come was different and the way to go back was different. A shopkeeper told that people entered the shop to save their lives, 50-60 people entered a small shop due to which the shopkeeper also fainted. The administration removed the broken wires and scattered slippers to erase the signs of the stampede, but there are still signs of stampede under the prasad shops.

Stampede caused by rumour of electric shock?

There was a huge crowd of people offering water at the Mansa Devi temple and the entire route was packed with devotees. Then a rumour of electric current spread and a stampede occurred. It is being told that there was a spark after a spark in the electric pole installed at the Mansa Devi temple. Due to which a rumour spread that there was electric current in the temple. The devotees present in the temple above ran downwards and the people passing in the middle fell on each other. The injured are being treated at the hospital. It is being told that the condition of many of them is critical.

Administration failed to manage the crowd?

Now the question arises that how did this accident happen in Haridwar's Mansa Devi temple? Who spread the rumour of electric current? Knowing that it is the month of Sawan, and on top of that, today is also Sunday, why was no arrangement made in advance to manage the crowd? Who is responsible for the death of 6 devotees in the stampede? Shortly after the stampede, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reached Haridwar and met the injured admitted in the hospital and inquired about their well-being. He said that the matter is being investigated by a magistrate.
