It's worth noting that after three months of drought, the weather in January has brought considerable relief. According to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Center, Shimla, light snowfall is expected in the higher elevations of the state and light rain in the lower elevations. Although the weather in the capital, Shimla, has remained clear since morning, it is expected to deteriorate by evening.
There is a possibility of snowfall in these districts
Sandeep Kumar Sharma, a scientist at the Shimla Meteorological Center, said that light snowfall is expected in the high-altitude areas of Chamba, Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, Kangra, and Shimla. Rain and snowfall are expected in most areas of the state starting February 1. He added that 11 districts in Himachal Pradesh received 29 percent more rainfall than normal in January, while Kinnaur district received 47 percent less rainfall than normal.
Heavy snowfall has caused several problems in the state.
Although the recent snowfall has brought relief to farmers and gardeners, it has also increased difficulties. The situation in Himachal Pradesh has not yet returned to normal. 482 roads, including three national highways, remain closed to traffic. The largest number of road closures are in Lahaul. People are facing numerous difficulties in commuting, while tourists are also facing difficulties due to long traffic jams.
According to reports, two national highways and 273 roads are closed in Lahaul-Spiti, while 436 power transformers are out of service. 62 water projects are also stalled.
