
News Topical, Digital Desk : The Madhya Pradesh High Court reprimanded state minister Vijay Shah and ordered the police to register an FIR against him for promoting enmity and hatred. The controversial remarks against Army officer Colonel Sofia Qureshi were termed as 'gutter language'.

The court also said that the armed forces are 'perhaps the last institution in this country' that reflects honesty, discipline, sacrifice, selflessness, character, honour and indomitable courage.' Colonel Sofia was part of the team that presented India's side of ' Operation Sindoor ' to the country and the world through the media.
Controversial remarks made in Ramkunda village on May 12
Shah, a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Madhya Pradesh and the Tribal Welfare Minister, created a big controversy by making objectionable remarks against Colonel Qureshi. He tried to present Colonel Sofia as the 'sister of terrorists'. He made these derogatory remarks while addressing a gathering at Ramkunda village near Indore on Monday (May 12).
The court took suo motu cognizance of the minister's statements
Taking suo motu cognizance of the minister's statements, the High Court's division bench of Justice Atul Shridharan and Justice Anuradha Shukla ordered the police to register an FIR against the minister. The court directed the police department to register the FIR by 6 pm on Wednesday and also directed to inform about it.
Instructions to register case under different sections of BNS
The bench directed the state Director General of Police (DGP) to register an FIR against Shah for offences under sections 152 (acts threatening the sovereignty, unity and integrity of India), 196 (1) (b) (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, caste, language or other similar characteristics) and 197 (1) (c) (statement or action which creates enmity, or hatred between different groups) of the Indian Penal Code (BNS).
The court said this big thing in its order
The court order said that this should be done by this evening and if this is not done, tomorrow (May 15) when the case is heard, the court can consider proceedings against the state's Director General of Police for contempt of this order. The court said that the Advocate General's office is directed to immediately send this order to the DGP's office and ensure that it is followed.
'The court was forced to take suo motu cognizance'
The high court order said, "This court is compelled to take suo motu cognizance of the matter due to the incident which took place at a public function at Raikunda village, Ambedkar Nagar, Mhow on Monday, reported in various newspapers and digital media."
The order said that a sitting minister of the Madhya Pradesh government, named Vijay Shah, had used "abusive language" against a senior officer of the Indian Army.
The court said, "The armed forces, perhaps the last institution existing in this country, which represents honesty, industry, discipline, sacrifice, selflessness, character, honour and indomitable courage and which every citizen of this country considers as his identity, has been targeted by Vijay Shah. He has used gutter language against Colonel Sofia Qureshi."
I am ready to apologize ten times- Vijay Shah gave clarification
After facing criticism from all sides for his comments, Vijay Shah clarified that if his statement has hurt anyone, he is ready to apologize ten times. Congress has demanded from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to dismiss Shah from the Madhya Pradesh cabinet.
