News Topical, Digital Desk : The 2027 Kumbh Mela in Haridwar will usher in a new era of technology . Pilgrims will be issued digital IDs this year , and a dedicated digital portal will be created for lost and found items . The IT Department ( ITDA ) has prepared a detailed proposal worth ₹ 45 crore for this digital Kumbh Mela . Under this plan , the Kumbh has been divided into six digital categories .
The first category is digital platforms and citizen services , which will include an integrated command and control center , the Kumbh 2027 website , and a mobile app . Additionally , there will be an AI chatbot to answer pilgrims ' questions . A digital portal will be created for lost and found complaints , and e - passes and digital IDs will be available to everyone . Services like sanitation , tent monitoring , and help desks will also be digitally monitored . Departments will also be provided with digital land allocation.
The second category is planning and geospatial mapping , which includes a project management information system , an inventory tracking system , drone -based mapping of a 10-kilometer buffer zone , and a GIS layer for traffic, sanitation, and ghats . Geotagging of CCTV and AI cameras , a digital twin platform , terrain planning , and utility mapping are also planned.
Demand for Rs 45 crore from the central government
Uttarakhand government's IT Secretary , Nitesh Jha, stated that this proposal has been prepared for a digital Kumbh, which will utilize modern technology for everything from crowd management to the convenience of devotees. A request of ₹45 crore has been made from the central government, which includes ₹5 crore for digital platforms and citizen services, ₹6.5 crore for planning and geospatial mapping , ₹8.5 crore for crowd management and security, ₹15 crore for the care of devotees, and ₹5 crore for environmental monitoring and disaster management.
For security purposes, technologies such as Bluetooth -based crowd monitoring systems , sensor-based crowd density monitoring , geo- fencing in sensitive areas , a heatmap- based crowd flow dashboard , and smart parking will be implemented. In addition, an EV charging locator and a security operation center will also be established.
Sensors will be installed on the banks of the Ganga to check the water level.
For the convenience of pilgrims , information kiosks and QR code signage will be installed, providing historical and scientific information. Visual displays, robotics , and a digital Kumbh Experience Center will also be established to provide information about the royal baths and the Akharas. To protect the environment, water quality sensors will be installed on the Ganga ghats. Toilets will be equipped with smart waste disposal systems , public Wi-Fi zones, and telecommunications facilities. Disaster management will include risk assessment, health and sanitation preparedness, and flood and fire prevention plans.
