News Topical, Digital Desk : The Anti-Robbery and Snatching Cell of the Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested Sumit Mishra, a five-year-old accused of sexual assault. A case of rape and intimidation was registered against him at the Ranhola police station in West Delhi in 2021, but he had been eluding police custody since then. The court also declared him a fugitive proclaimed offender that same year.

According to Delhi Police, the victim filed a complaint on March 7, 2021, alleging that she had gone to the accused's shop to fill out a form for a Civil Defense job. The accused obtained her mobile number there and later contacted her under the pretext of providing documents. It is alleged that during this time, he sexually assaulted her and impregnated her. Furthermore, he also made objectionable videos of the victim and sent them to her father, brother, and other family members, threatening and mentally harassing her.

The accused kept changing his location

Despite the seriousness of the case and the Delhi Police's efforts to evade arrest, the accused continued to change locations. He hid in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand under different names and occupations. He sometimes worked in a hatchery and sometimes as a waiter in hotels. In 2022, his associates attacked a police team that went to apprehend him in Sonipat, Haryana, leading to the registration of another case.
