News Topical, Digital Desk : Thanks to the efforts of the Yogi government, women involved in the dairy sector are reaping double benefits. Women who have become members/shareholders of the Shri Baba Gorakhnath Kripa Milk Producers Organization, formed under the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission, have not only strengthened their livelihoods but are also now able to meet their household fuel needs free of charge.
As part of a pilot project, this MPO, in collaboration with the National Dairy Development Board, has initially installed domestic biogas plants in the homes of 100 female members. As a result, these women are now cooking with cow dung gas. The plant's residue is used as organic fertilizer for agriculture. The MPO's goal is to install a domestic biogas plant in every female member's home.
CM Yogi's vision was successful
The Shri Baba Gorakhnath Kripa Milk Producers Organization was formed under the vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Recognizing the remarkable contributions made by women associated with Bundelkhand's Balini Milk Producers Company, formed in 2019, to the dairy sector and the story of women's self-reliance being written through it, CM Yogi directed the creation of Milk Producers Organizations (MPOs) with women's participation in other sectors as well. In this regard, the Shri Baba Gorakhnath Kripa MPO was formed in Gorakhpur by the State Rural Livelihood Mission in collaboration with the National Dairy Development Board.
More than 51 thousand women benefited
Through this MPO, which became operational about two and a half years ago, over 51,000 rural homemakers in eastern Uttar Pradesh have embarked on a path to economic independence by joining the dairy sector. These women are strengthening their families' economies by engaging in milk production/collection while also managing household chores.
Dhanraj Sahni, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MPO, explains that in a short time, thanks to the hard work of the women members, MPO's turnover has reached nearly 200 crore rupees. This achievement is not just a number, but a story of social and economic change. The CEO says that MPO's remarkable achievement is the result of the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath . His inspiration and visionary approach are moving thousands of women in rural areas towards self-reliance and prosperity.
100 biogas plants were installed
MPO has now launched a pilot project to provide dual benefits to its member women. To date, 100 domestic biogas plants have been successfully installed behind member homes. The MPO CEO explains that this initiative is proving to be an effective source of clean energy, additional savings, and sustainable income for rural families.
Biogas produced from animal dung is available day and night, ensuring continuous access to cooking gas for families. This significantly reduces fuel costs. Furthermore, the organic slurry (manure) produced from the biogas plant is extremely useful for agricultural use, reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers and saving on farming costs. This initiative is not only improving the living standards of rural women but also making a significant contribution to environmental protection.
female members excited
The women members of the MPO are extremely excited by this initiative. Rajkumari Devi, a resident of Rakhi in the Bharohia block, says that the biogas plant provides her with dual benefits: clean energy, time savings, reduced cooking expenses, and additional organic fertilizer. Roshni Yadav of Parsia village in the Gola area says that joining the MPO and collecting milk has increased her income, and the biogas plant is now easily meeting her household's energy needs for the kitchen.
