
News Topical, Digital Desk : A large Hindu temple in Melbourne, Australia has been targeted by racial hatred. Hateful slogans and abusive words were written on the walls of the Shri Swaminarayan Temple, including abusive words like "go home" and "brown".
This incident is a big shock not only for the Hindu community but for the entire society, as it is the latest example of racial hatred. This attack has brought to the fore the growing hatred against Hindus in Australia.
Racist slogans were also found written besides the temple
Police have confirmed that the incident took place in Melbourne's Boronia area on July 21. Apart from the temple, the same racial slogans were also written on the walls of two nearby Asian restaurants.
The attacks have sparked fear and anger among locals. Police said four such incidents in Boronia and Bayswater are under investigation.
'Attack on our faith and culture'
Makrand Bhagwat, president of the Victoria chapter of the Hindu Council of Australia, expressed deep sorrow over the incident. He said, "Our temple is a symbol of peace, devotion and unity. It is extremely sad to desecrate it with hateful words. This is an attack on our faith and culture."
Victoria's Premier Jacinta Allan also strongly condemned the attack, calling it "hateful and deeply disturbing".
In his statement, he said, "This was not just vandalism, but a deliberate racial attack. Its aim was to spread fear and isolate people. There is no place for such hatred in Victoria."
