Rashid lives with his wife, Shabnam, and seven children in the Budh Bazaar Colony, Rampark, under the Tronica City police station in Ghaziabad. Rashid works as a bamboo pole carver, and his friend, Faheem, also works with him. Ghaziabad DCP (Rural), Surendranath Tiwari, stated that at 12:40 a.m., Dial 112 received a call reporting a fight in the Budh Bazaar neighborhood, with two people injured.

When police arrived at the scene, they found the bodies of Shabnam, 36, and Faheem, 32. The police took both bodies into custody, filed a Panchnama, and sent them for post-mortem examination.
