News Topical, Digital Desk : An Air India flight carrying 180 passengers to Nepal was stranded for over 18 hours at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), causing panic among passengers.

The Air India flight departed Bengaluru at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday and was scheduled to land in Kathmandu at 1:25 p.m. However, due to bad weather in Kathmandu, the Air India Express flight had to be diverted twice (to Varanasi and Lucknow) .

Passengers protested

Passengers, upset over the lack of infrastructure and uncertainty, protested at Bengaluru airport's Terminal 2, raising slogans against the airline. The flight was carrying around 180 passengers, including 37 from Karnataka, on a 10-day trip to Nepal, the Times of India reported.

Passengers made these allegations

"We were made to wait till 4.25 pm and were given only a packet of biscuits," Sudhalkar S, a tour agent travelling with the group, told TOI. Confirming that the schedule was affected due to bad weather, the flight was diverted first to Varanasi and then a second time to Lucknow.

Passengers on an Air India Express flight to Nepal were stranded for more than 18 hours due to repeated diversions. Refueling was completed at the airport, and the flight departed for Bangalore two hours later at 5:15 p.m. due to poor weather.

Refund option given to passengers

An Air India Express spokesperson apologized for the inconvenience caused and said affected passengers have been provided with hotel accommodation and the option of free rescheduling or a full refund. He added that an additional flight is planned for Saturday.
