News Topical, Digital Desk : Tamil Nadu DGP told the Supreme Court that the police have taken necessary action and cases have been registered against the protesters who made caste and religion-based derogatory remarks against Madras High Court Justice G R Swaminathan.
These comments were made after Justice Swaminathan's order allowing lighting of 'Karthikai Deepam' oil lamps on the Tirupparankundram hill in Madurai.
Instructions have been issued to all
In an affidavit filed in the Supreme Court, DGP G Venkataraman also said that instructions have been issued to all Superintendents of Police and other officers of the districts to take immediate and effective action to ensure that no book containing pictorial representations, statements, caricatures or material defaming the court/judge is published or circulated.
Necessary action
The Greater Chennai Police have taken necessary action in respect of the allegations made by the petitioner regarding circulation of defamatory, abusive, slanderous and scandalous posts on internet media platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, WhatsApp and other digital platforms.
