In fact, in Brussels, near the European Parliament, at Place du Luxembourg, farmers are protesting against reforms to the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and trade agreements like Mercosur. Potatoes were also spread on the streets during this period. As tensions escalated during the demonstration, the farmers' anger erupted and they set fires. During this, the protesters started throwing potatoes at the police. In response, the police used tear gas and water cannons.

Tractors entered the capital

Farmers entered Brussels, the capital of Belgium, with around 1,000 honking tractors and surrounded the entire city. In order to put pressure on the summit of European Union leaders, a huge uproar was seen outside the European Parliament. Farmers burned piles of tyres and straw and started throwing potatoes at the police. In response, the police fired tear gas shells. During this, traffic was completely disrupted.

The demonstration was organized by Copa-Cogeca, the leading organization representing farmers and agricultural cooperatives in the European Union, reports Fairpost. EU farmers are protesting the Mercosur agreement, which they say will harm them through the influx of cheap goods from agricultural giant Brazil and its neighboring countries.
