News Topical, Digital Desk : CPI(M) Rajya Sabha MP John Brittas has shared evidence of online attacks on Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and the families of Pahalgam attack victims with the Delhi police.

In May, John Brittas, a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah demanding an inquiry into the online attacks on the senior diplomat.

He also referred to the cyber campaigns targeting Himanshi Narwal, the widow of naval officer Lt Vinay Narwal, and Aarti, the daughter of tourist N Ramachandran, both killed in the April 22 Pahalgam attack.

In a letter addressed to DCP Counter Intelligence (Special Cell) Manishi Chandra, the CPI(M) leader said he has been sharing material taken from derogatory internet media posts as well as mainstream media coverage, which clearly establishes a concerted campaign of cyber harassment and defamation.

He said that the police cannot escape its legal duty by putting the burden of proving a cognizable offence on the informant and an FIR must be registered.
